Glencoe to Aviemore, is about 81 miles through the Cairngorms National park in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, It has long been one of Scotland’s most famous places, known equally for its rare beauty and turbulent past.

Discover its remarkable history, landscape and wildlife, as well as the backdrops for films, and TV including Brave-heart, Rob Roy, Sky-fall and Outlander, just a few.

 The UK’s largest National Park offers masses of things to do including waters ports, snow sports, wildlife watching, and some incredible high and low level walking and cycling routes, catering for all ages, all weathers and all abilities.

 The route covers the Cairngorms range of mountains, and surrounding hills, already the largest national park in the British Isles, in 2010 it was expanded into Perth and Kinross, with attractions in Aviemore, Angus Glens, Royal Deeside, Glenlivet, Atholl and Glenshee areas.

 The Park is home to the Cairngorm Brewery and six distilleries including, Dalwhinnie, Glenlivet, Tomintoul, Royal Lochnagar, Balmenach and Speyside Distillery.

 Royal Lochnagar, Dalwhinnie, Cairngorm Brewery and Glenlivet Distillery have visitor centres Tomintoul, Balmenach (Caorunn Gin) and Speyside can be visited by appointment.

 North of Aviemore you can also find Tomatin Distillery is open to visitors for tours and tastings.

 On this route you can Pull off at the roadside viewpoint and picnic areas to stretch your legs and soak up the stunning views, you can see the old military road, built by General Wade in 1750 following the Jacobite rebellion of 1745, it runs below the modern road that is used today.

 Whether you want to stay in a boutique hotel, sleep under the stars, in a castle, a hotel full of a turbulent history, or part of a famous film set or TV adaptation, the choice is endless to suite every pocket this route will finish in Aviemore but you can extend on further if you wish in all directions.
