As the local population were being cleared off the land they had worked for centuries by the Lords of the Land, it was said that Sir Hector rolled stones from the top of the hill to the bottom, thereby extending the amount of time worked and paying the labourers for additional hours, at this time survival was a problem and so it was built to keep the locals in labour, There is a small purpose built car park on the left side of the minor road to Boath. Here the signposted 'Jubilee path' to the monument begins.

Located in Scotland's lovely highlands, this striking monument has become one of the region's most iconic landmarks. Built by Sir Hector Munro in 1782 as an imitation of The Acropolis Gate at Athens, it stands atop a 700ft hill and offers breathtaking views over some beautiful countryside.

It is unique among Scottish monuments for its sheer size - measuring approximately sixty feet square at base and eighty-one feet tall – making it quite imposing when viewed from below! Its distinctive turrets are also notable; four circular bastions that form towers projecting outwards on each corner add further grandeur to its airy structure.

From June through September every year visitors can climb up steep steps carved into the rockface (for free!) or take advantage of car parking facilities nearby if tackling such heights isn't your style! This makes visiting this wonderful piece of historical architecture easily accessible no matter what shape you're in physically.

If you have time during your visit there are plenty more sights worth seeing surrounding Fyrish Monument too..so why not make an afternoon stroll around these tranquil wooded paths part of your itinerary? Whether you’re looking for stunning mountain vistas that will never be forgotten or simply keen on exploring our country’s rich history and culture then Fyrish Monument is definitely well worth checking out while travelling throughout Scotland's Highlands
