Forde Abbey, Visitors of all ages will find something to delight in at the Forde Abbey Historical House and Gardens, which are located on a stunning working family estate. Children who are under the age of 15 are admitted free of charge and have access to the gardens all 12 months of the year, even though the main house is only accessible from April to October.

In the garden of Forde Abbey, you can test your skills at the activity of letterboxing by following a path to a succession of hidden boxes and stamps. This is modelled after the iconic letterboxes that can be found on Dartmoor, and at the end of the year, players who have completed all of the different routes will be placed into a drawing for various prizes. However, before you leave, could you kindly ensure that the stamps are placed back in the appropriate boxes so that other people can benefit from them?
The layout of the grounds at Forde Abbey is intentionally unstructured, which encourages children to run around and discover their surroundings. Additionally, the large lawns provide plenty of room for youngsters to run around and let some steam off. As you make your way through the area, be on the lookout for the local fish, swans, ducks, and chickens. In the winter, when the sculpture and topiary are lighted by the winter sun and when millions of snowdrops bloom during the annual Snowdrop weekends in February, the grounds are just as magnificent as they are during the warmer months. Dogs that are well-behaved and on leashes are welcome in the garden and tearoom, but they are not permitted inside the main house. It features a basin that can be used for holding water.
