Stornoway, the capital of the island, is located a short distance away and offers all of the conveniences associated with a bustling town, including a busy harbour, a ferry to the mainland, and a small airport. A wonderful sandy beach with a pier for fishing, Bayble beach is a great place to spend the day. This is a small harbour that can only accommodate smaller vessels. Discover birds such as the Garrabost and lapwing, dunlin, redshank, and oyster catchers, nesting on the moorland. There are colonies of fulmar petrels and kittiwakes to be found on the cliffs, and Loch a Tiumpan is an excellent location for seeing migratory birds. The Tiumpanhead Lighthouse can be found at the very tip of the Point on the Island. Due to the fact that the water is so deep here, this is an excellent location to come in order to observe marine mammals such as whales, dolphins, and porpoises.

Find a lodge in the Back on the Traigh Chuil Beach, and if you want to have a romantic vacation, you may go to the Callanish Standing on a day trip from your vacation home, or you can go to the Museum Nan Eilean. Stornoway Airport is the one that is the most convenient to use.

Bed and breakfasts are plentiful on the Outer Hebrides, and there is a wide variety of options available to accommodate travellers of all tastes and financial means. You can go walking or cycling here, or maybe you just want to get away from it all. This place has what you need.

Tolsta some 12 miles north east from Stornoway is a straggling village at the end of the road along the east coast Which Lord Leverhulme built when he owned Lewis, intending it to complete an island circuit at Port of Ness unfortunately he left the island before it was completed and nothing more was done.

There are several small settlements on the route and at the promontory of Tolsta Head there are fine beaches and some prehistoric remains.

The area has been populated by fisherlolk and crofters, most of whom are members of the very strict Free Presbyterian Church, the “Seeessionists".

From Tolsta there is a splendid panorama across 40 miles of sea to the mainland, from Cape Wrath at the northern extremity of Sutherland down to Ullapool in Ross and Cromarty, this would provide a truly impressive tour of Northern Lewis.

Tolsta, an enchanting gem nestled within the captivating Isle of Lewis, Scotland, offers a tranquil escape into nature's embrace. As a traveler seeking serenity amidst breathtaking landscapes, Tolsta surpassed every expectation. The pristine Tolsta Beach, with its powdery sands and azure waters, provided moments of pure tranquility, perfect for serene walks and introspective pauses.

Exploring the nearby historical sites like the Gearrannan Blackhouse Village and Arnol Blackhouse allowed for a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Scottish heritage, weaving tales of bygone eras and traditions.

The warmth of the locals and the genuine hospitality experienced at the charming guesthouses added a comforting touch to the stay. Tasting the flavors of Scotland through local cuisine, especially the fresh seafood, became a delightful culinary adventure.

Venturing along coastal paths, witnessing the rugged cliffs, and savoring panoramic views atop Dùn Eistean offered unforgettable moments of exploration and awe.

Tolsta, with its blend of tranquility, historical resonance, and natural beauty, captured my heart. It's an idyllic destination that embraces travelers with open arms, leaving an indelible imprint of beauty and serenity.
