Because of its position, if you choose to stay in the Somerset region, you will have easy access to the rest of the South West of England, including Gloucestershire, for day visits.
Whether you're looking for a flat or a charming rural property, Stay4you.com can help you make the most affordable direct booking possible. There are many welcoming places to stay the night in the area surrounding Somerset with many different types of lodging from hotels to self catering.

Despite its reputation as the county of "cream teas," "old-world villages," and "friendly locals," Somerset has a history that includes periods of time when unrest and violence played a significant role in the formation of national events. Despite this history, Somerset is often thought of as the county of "cream teas."

The junctions at Taunton (Junction 25), Wellington (Junction 26), and Tiverton (Junction 27) on the M5 motorway provide access to the highway.

The mainline train stations are located in Nailsea and Backwell. Bristol and Temple Meads offer a direct service to London Paddington and the wider network to all of the United Kingdom. The journey time from Nailsea to London Paddington on the fast train is around one hour and ninety minutes.

Both Bristol and Exeter Airports are currently providing connectivity to a variety of locations both inside the United Kingdom and internationally.

It shares its northern border with Gloucestershire and Bristol, its eastern border with Wiltshire, its southern border with Dorset, and its southern and western borders with Devon. The cities of Bristol and Bath both provide a fantastic selection of shops, restaurants, cultural activities, and other lifestyle amenities to their respective residents.

The region is well known for the quality of its education, and there are a number of schools in the area that are held in extremely high esteem.

It is limited to the north and west by the Estuary of the Severn and the Channel of the Bristol, with its shoreline facing the southeastern part of Wales.

Stay in a handsome period house that has been beautifully refurbished and is surrounded by idyllic countryside. Bath is home to a wide variety of historical, cultural, and leisure facilities including The Theatre Royal and the local racecourse. It is also the only world heritage city in the United Kingdom and is famous for its Roman history and Georgian architecture.

This part of the country is home to a plethora of lively village pubs, restaurants, and eating establishments that exude all the allure of history and nostalgia.

Find a bed and breakfast that has guest rooms that are uniquely decorated and quite comfortable, and that also have en suite bathrooms.

Find the seaside towns as well as the areas designated as having outstanding natural beauty, where you may go on pleasant walks through the countryside and have picnics.

Stay in an elegant Country House hotel that is located in acres of calm, landscaped grounds in the historic village. The hotel is only 3 miles away from the M5, providing convenient access to Taunton and the rest of Somerset.

Find a country house that has a wonderful terrace that is convenient for outside eating in the summer and taking in the scenery, has a back door that leads directly into the kitchen, and has a fireplace. You can find a nice summer home with steps leading down from some beautiful ornamental ironwork railings to a lower terraced garden. This garden is great for a large family or group of friends as it is planned out mostly with lawn on one side.

The river Parrett, which runs through the historic town of Langport, served both the Romans as a route to Avalon and subsequently the invading Danes. Langport is a town rich in history. It was also the location of a significant Civil War fight that took place there.

It is currently a picture-perfect tiny town in Somerset, and the fact that it hasn't altered much over the years contributes to the area's endearing appeal and character.

Find pleasant and popular cafes and restaurants alongside the river that are frequently used by walkers and, more recently, cyclists in addition to the local townspeople. The only large chain stores that remain are the useful Tesco's. Individual shops remain without large chain outlets. Other than Tesco's, there are no other large chain stores.

The surrounding countryside is lovely, and it is easy to get around because to the abundance of footpaths and bridleways. The area is great for cycling thanks to its narrow lanes and low traffic levels.

A wide variety of amenities may be found in the nearby towns of Street, Glastonbury, Taunton, Wells, and Sherborne, and the surrounding area features a decent selection of rural pubs and eateries.

Find the village of Muchelney, which is famous for being the site of one of the largest and oldest abbeys in Somerset. Sadly, the abbey is now a ruin because King Henry Vll ordered its destruction in 1538, and what is left of it is currently cared for by English Heritage.

Muchelney is home to the sole thatched monk's toilet found anywhere in all of England! Shakespeare Glass is another another amazing destination worth checking out.

The county of Somerset is quite well known and has a great deal to provide for its residents. ideally situated for access to Bath, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage City, as well as the Somerset towns of Frome and Bruton, which are frequently featured in The Times' Best Places to Live Guide. This area features an abundance of dining options, including restaurants, cafes, and bars, as well as art galleries, theatres, museums, movie theatres, and other cultural activities. Find a country vacation house with a one bedroom bungalow and a two bedroom cottage offering flexible accommodation suited for the multi-generational family, occupying a magnificent setting in grounds with a barbecue and outdoor pizza oven for eating meals outside in the fresh air.

Our family had an absolutely delightful stay at Somerset, and it was all thanks to our charming accommodation at the Johnson Family Cottage! From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in the picturesque beauty of Somerset's countryside.

The cottage itself was a dream. Spacious, cozy, and impeccably clean, it felt like a true home away from home. The kids were overjoyed with their room, which had enough space for them to play around freely. The amenities were top-notch, and the kitchen was well-equipped, making family dinners a breeze.

The location was perfect for exploring Somerset. We ventured into the quaint nearby villages, indulging in local treats and discovering hidden gems around every corner. The countryside walks were a highlight—rolling hills, scenic paths, and breathtaking views made for unforgettable family moments.

One of the most memorable aspects was the warmth and hospitality of the locals. The Johnson Family Cottage hosts were incredibly kind and helpful, providing us with valuable tips on places to visit and ensuring our stay was comfortable throughout.

We couldn't have asked for a better family getaway. Somerset, with its beauty and charm, paired with the homely comfort of the Johnson Family Cottage, made this trip an unforgettable experience. We're already planning our next visit and would highly recommend this destination and accommodation to any family seeking a peaceful, scenic retreat!
