Elgol Holiday Accommodation Guide will assist visitors to the area in locating accommodation and providing information on the area. Elgol is a community on the Isle of Skye that is located on the shores of Loch Scavaig near the extremity of the Strathaird peninsula. It is a small scattered hamlet that can be found to the south-west of Broadford at the very tip of the Strathaird peninsula.

Find a secluded vacation cottage that is perfect for a romantic getaway and is located in the southwest of the island on the Strathaird Peninsula. This cottage has breath-taking views out towards the Small Isles of Rum, Eigg, and Canna as well as views across Loch Slapin to the Sleat peninsula.

The settlement may be accessed through a dramatic route that winds its way through the Red Cuillins and Strath Suardal, offering breathtaking panoramas as it passes the abandoned Cill Chriosd and its intriguing and beautifully situated cemetery.
From Elgol, travellers can board a boat that will transport them over Loch Scavaig and into the beginning of Loch Coruisk.

The Cuillin range is widely regarded as Skye's most beautiful mountain range.

Take the car and drive on the mostly single track road that descends steeply to the sea from Broadford. This route contributes to the one-of-a-kind character of the location. Make a reservation at a guest house that offers a wonderful waterside setting and is located to the north of Broadford so that you may explore the entire island.

Stay in a hotel that has panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and sea from practically every window, as well as a comfy lounge and bar, and a waterside deck from which you may have an evening dram after dinner.

Both the Black Cuillin, also known as the "real" Cuillin, and the Red Cuillin, also known as the "false" Cuillin, may be found on the island of Skye.

The Black Cuillin, which can be seen in this image, are Skye's tallest mountains. In contrast to the Red Cuillin, which are predominantly made of granite, these mountains are created primarily from basalt and gabbro and contain all twelve of the island's Munros.

Legend has it that the Gaelic Princess Dounhuila, who lived in the 9th century, sought sanctuary in the well-known Spar Cave, which is located in the neighbouring cliffs. The surrounding area is rich in history and tradition, such as the Dounhuila, which was named after the princess.

Spend your vacation in a vacation home that offers stunning vistas of Loch Slapin and is surrounded by private garden grounds that can only be accessed through double gates and provide limited off-road parking.

This area is a refuge for tourists who come to explore it by going on boat rides, hikes, and mountain climbs, and they are also treated to frequent sightings of wildlife like as eagles, otters, and deer. Elgol is home to a variety of essential community facilities, such as a general store, a restaurant, a coffee shop, a primary school, and a community centre.

The village of Broadford, which is located to the east of this location and is serviced by a bus during the day, Monday through Friday, offers a more comprehensive selection of amenities.

Find a bed and breakfast that is conveniently located near many of Skye's points of interest, such as the Trotternish Peninsula, Quiraing, Museum of Island Life, The grave of Flora Macdonald, Kilt Rock, Old man of Storr, and Duntulm Castle, and then drive to the port where ferries to the Outer Hebrides depart.

Stunning, Remote, and Truly Breathtaking!

Elgol is one of the most magical places I’ve ever visited. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape with jaw-dropping scenery, this small village on the Isle of Skye is a hidden gem that should not be missed.

Scenery & Nature:
The views from Elgol are simply spectacular. The rugged coastline, with the Cuillin Mountains looming in the background, makes for some of the best photo opportunities I’ve ever had. We took a boat trip out to Loch Coruisk (highly recommend Misty Isle Boat Trips), and it was like stepping into another world. The combination of mountains and loch is otherworldly!

Activities:
If you love hiking, you’ll find plenty of trails nearby. We walked the Elgol to Camasunary Bay route and were blown away by the stunning views along the way. It’s a moderately difficult walk but absolutely worth the effort. We also explored the Spar Cave, a fascinating hidden cave—just make sure you check the tides before heading out.

Accommodation:
We stayed in a lovely self-catering cottage with incredible views of the mountains and sea. The options for holiday accommodation in Elgol Scotland are fantastic, with many properties offering a remote, tranquil atmosphere that’s perfect for relaxation. I’d recommend booking in advance, especially in peak season.

Local Amenities:
Elgol is quite small, so don’t expect many restaurants or shops. There’s a small café and a village shop, but for bigger needs, you’ll have to drive to Broadford. That said, the seclusion and tranquility are exactly why we loved it so much.

Overall:
If you’re a fan of wild, natural beauty and don’t mind being off the beaten path, Elgol is a must-visit. The landscape is unbeatable, and the peaceful atmosphere is a welcome break from busier tourist areas. Would 100% return for another stay in holiday accommodation in Elgol.
