The first fortifications on this site date back to the 11th century, following the Norman invasion of England led by William the Conqueror.
The magnificent Changing of the Guard ceremony takes place at Windsor Castle, which is the world's oldest and largest inhabited royal castle. This makes it the ideal location for the event.
On a daily basis, spectators gather along the High Street to witness the troops march from the barracks to the castle accompanied by a lively regimental band and to watch the ancient Guard return to the castle after standing a watch for 24 or 48 hours.
The Chapel of St. George is a thriving place of worship in the community, and it holds services on a consistent basis. The likes of George V and Queen Mary, Henry VIII and Jane Seymour, and others are among the most well-known individuals to have been laid to rest there.
The Most Noble Order of the Garter is the United Kingdom's highest civilian and military honour, and it is awarded only in very exceptional circumstances. The Order of the Garter was initially established in England in the year 1348 by King Edward III.
Since it was first constructed, the castle has been remodelled and rebuilt by a total of 39 monarchs, each of whom has stated that it is their preferred residence. Her Majesty takes great pleasure in spending her weekends at Windsor Castle, which plays host to a variety of official functions and celebrations throughout the year.
During the reign of Edward III, enormous sums of money were set aside for the refurbishment of the castle. You have the opportunity to visit and experience this magnificent site, which was once the cherished home of Queen Victoria and her beloved Prince Albert and which is now the cherished home of our Queen. The region of North America that has served as the breeding ground for monarch butterflies for the past 900 years.

I made my reservation online, so I was able to walk right in; there is security similar to that found in airports. You can acquire a stamp on your ticket to validate your right to re-enter the attraction at no further cost. Even though it was included in the price, neither of us decided to go on the tour.

Even though their tolerance was tested by tourists who broke the rules, everyone was kind and friendly. The grounds are stunning, and the personnel is top-notch. The state rooms are gorgeous all the way up to the ceilings, and I was particularly taken by the chandeliers. The employees in the rooms were more than ready to answer any questions that were posed to them, and I had a wonderful chat with a lady about how the rooms were cleaned. When we were in a certain room and remarked on how beautiful the vista was, the docent assured us that the Queen would feel the same way in her later years.
St. George's chapel was highly active, and there was a line of people waiting to file past the final resting place of Queen Elizabeth.
