In the 500 years or so of being a medieval castle, Urquhart has played several important roles and been a popular recurring feature in a bloody and turbulent Scottish history, Seized after Edward I's invasion of Scotland, reclaimed by Robert the Bruce in the 14th century, the Castle was repeatedly attacked during the 15th and 16th centuries by the MacDonald Lords of the Isles, until 1692 when the Castle was largely destroyed in the fight between the Williamite and Jacobite groups. Today the ruin of the castle can be found in slopes underneath the A82. Urquhart Castle is owned by the National Trust for Scotland In Drumnadrochit on the village green, which is turned yellow by daffodils in spring, you can find a stunning model formed by miniature hedges and plants of Urquhart Castle there is a direct bus departing from Inverness, Services depart hourly, and operate every day. Driving directions

Find us By Road we are 20 miles south of the city of Inverness.
From Inverness follow the A82 along the shores of Loch Ness, this is the main trunk route which links Loch Ness along the length of the Great Glen with nearby Inverness the Capital of the Highlands, in the north, and Glasgow in the south.
We are situated 6 miles by road from the village of Drumnadrochit, Take the A831 to Cannich through the small village of Milton along to the small village of Bailnain you will see the Loch on the left ( Meiklie) pass Kilmartin house on the left behind a brick wall and on passed the little white church again on the left with Loch Meiklie in the back ground to our sign at the bottom of the road on the right, turn onto the track we are a hundred metres from the road.

Inverness Airport is located some 7 miles east of Inverness, 21 miles from Loch Ness. Direct flights to Inverness from Flybe and Easyjet are available to and from Glasgow, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, London Gatwick, Luton, Belfast, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Kirkwall, Stornoway, Benbecula & Sumburgh - many of which are international airports with global connections, All flight times within the UK are under 2 hours. With advance booking there are some excellent fares are available. Daily flights (6 days/week during Sept to March) Schipol Amsterdam, has excellent connections by rail and air from many countries around the world.
Summer arrivals from Jersey, Southampton, Zurich and Dusseldorf.

This information is stored in encrypted form in our database so that only authorised people can view it. If you make a booking then by law we must store your PII whilst the booking is valid. Once the booking has completed, either because it has been cancelled or you have been checked out, then you will be able to exercise your RTBF by logging in and visiting the "Your data" page. Invoice information for completed bookings will still be securely stored in our database to ensure that we abide by relevant tax laws but you will be able to remove all other PII after the booking is completed.
  3. When you consent to your information being stored as described above, we are legally obliged to store this consent in our database. This information will include your IP number and the content of the opt-in form. We will retain this consent notification indefinately (this is a legal requirement).
