    Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, Surrounded by some majestic scenery, Today the castle is one of the most visited and important attractions in the Scottish highlands.

    Eilean Donan is situated by the picturesque village of Dornie on the main tourist route to the Isle of Skye.

    The castle was built in the mid 13th century and stood guard over the lands of Kintail, it is one of the most iconic images of Scotland, Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet,Partially destroyed by a Jacobite uprising in 1719 the castle lay in ruins for 200 years, it was rebuilt by Lieutenant Colonel John MacRae-Gilstrap, who bought the island in 1911 and restored Eilean Donan to its former glory, the castle reopened in 1932.
