Rich with history Caithness and Sutherland are famed for their expansive skies, beautiful sea cliffs, uninhabited beaches, and long summer nights. They also have a stunning shoreline, a dramatic topography, and a dry climate. This serene area is home to a wide range of outdoor activities. A short drive away is Dornoch, which includes a renowned golf course and an excellent selection of stores and amenities.
Supermarkets, hospitals, the University of the Highlands and Islands, elementary and secondary schools, and other amenities are all available in Thurso.
The village of Thurso is a top surfing destination, and the northernmost point of the Scottish mainland is renowned for producing reliable, high-quality waves.
There are many amazing things to do in the area, such visiting Balchladich Beach, a white sand beach with turquoise waves, Clashnessie, Stoer, Clachtoll and Stoer Lighthouse, a dramatic headland from which it may be possible to see porpoises, orcas, and Minke whales, and many more.
This region is highly renowned throughout the world for its stunning natural surroundings and variety of fauna.
Visit the North West Highlands Geopark where Suilven, Canisp, and Quinag, three of Sutherland's most recognisable mountains, dominate the surrounding landscape.
The region is a haven for wildlife, and deer, ospreys, eagles, seals, and Otters are frequently seen there.
Countless sandy beaches may be found along with other outdoor activities including fishing, sailing, kayaking, and mountain biking.

Try the 'world famous' Lochinver pies for lunch in Lochinver, then go on one of the town's boat tours for a lovely sunset sail with a chance to see seals, dolphins, and whales.

The coastline is made up of an amazing collection of coastal cliffs, bays, and inlets with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean, which is teaming with bird life.

The Beinn Ratha hill, which forms a notable ridge between the Sand Side Burn and the Brackside Burn, as well as a number of saddles and peaks, are located to the south of the settlement of Reay.
There are fantastic chances for cycling, hill walking, and coastal strolls. For golfers, there is a wonderful selection of courses, including Wick, Reay, and Thurso, all of which have 18 holes, as well as Lybster, which has just 9 holes.

The Dornoch Firth is a firth that forms part of the border between Ross and Cromarty to the south and Sutherland to the north. It is located on the east coast of Highland in northern Scotland.

Visit Loch Fleet and the Morrich More, designated Special Protection Areas for wildlife and conservation purposes. Every year during the summer, fish return from the open ocean, swimming up the Dornoch Firth and the Kyle of Sutherland to try to reach further up the River Shin, where they spawned.

With all the amenities of a contemporary city, including an airport with frequent flights to the south and Europe, Inverness is only an hour and a half's drive away.

A haven for nature lovers, anglers, walkers, and family beach outings, this area is tranquil and lovely and ideal for off-the-beaten-path fishing.

The crofting community of Scourie More boasts exceptional and breath-taking open views of the coastline, the Atlantic Ocean, Badcall Bay, Mount Quinag, Suilven, Stac Pollaidh, Canisp, and Ben Mhor.

Dolphins can be spotted in the bay during the summer. Facilities for nearby villages can be found in Lochinver and Scourie, while Ullapool in the Highlands is also easily accessible.

With some of the most beautiful scenery in the Scottish Highlands leading up to it, Kylesku is located in the centre of Sutherland along the shore where Loch Glencoul and Loch Gleann Dubh meet. As a result, it is a very popular tourist destination with a wide range of outdoor activities nearby, such as hill walking, fishing, and bird watching.

In addition to the Kylesku Bridge, which is regarded as one of the most beautiful bridges in the world, Kylesku is also home to the famed Kylesku Hotel and Eas a Chual Aliunn, Britain's highest waterfall.

Enjoy taking a trip on the nearby NC 500. It takes around two hours to drive to Inverness, the primary business and commercial hub of the Highlands, which has vast retail, leisure, and entertainment options as well as great road, rail, and air connections to the South and other regions.
