I've also had pot noodles dumped into the bathroom sinks, people remove headboards from beds (I have no idea why), and I've had people empty instant noodles into the sinks. As a result of the water supply being cut off to a radiator that I had switched off at the valve, I mistakenly believed that the radiator was broken and so contacted a plumber. I was under the impression that everyone would understand the purpose of the thermostat, but it's evident that I was wrong about that.
Recognize that there will be a significant portion of the year in which you will have very little time for a private life. Even something as simple as making it to the dentist or doctor, or even finding the time to go shopping, could be difficult.
Be ready to shell out additional cash on a yearly basis to upgrade your bed linens, towels, and pillows.
