Stranraer Holiday Accommodation Guide

Stranraer situated in Dumfries & Galloway It lies on the shores of Loch Ryan a ferry hub to Ireland. Hidden away in Dumfries and Galloway is the rapidly developing travel destination of Stranraer, which is the second largest town in the south-west region of Scotland.
This charming town in the south-west of Scotland is sometimes referred to as "The Toon," and it offers a variety of one-of-a-kind activities as well as breath-taking vistas. Whether you are travelling from Scotland or Belfast, this guide will assist you in locating the most enjoyable activities that Stranraer has to offer. This coastal town takes great pleasure in its lovely accommodations, beautiful natural surroundings, rich history, and harbour that is situated directly on the banks of Loch Ryan.

The town of Stranraer has been operating as a ferry port for a very long time, and it was this port that provided service for the ferry that linked Scotland to Belfast and Larne in Northern Ireland. In 2011, this service was relocated to the neighbouring town of Cairnryan. In addition to being known as the entry point to the Rhinns of Galloway, the town of Stranraer is home to a wide variety of retail establishments, places to stay, and establishments serving food and drink. On Stranraer's principal thoroughfare stands the crumbling ruins of Castle of St. John, a four-story tower house that was constructed about the year 1500.

The town is still a significant rural service centre for the agricultural region that is located all around it, and it formerly operated as a market town. This can be seen in the manufacturing and supply industries that are local to the area. Stranraer is the location where all of Caledonian Cheese's production takes place. The production of helmets is an additional category of manufacturing.
