This village is at the head of a small Loch called Loch Broom You can travel from Inverness to Dundonnell in around 1.5 hours, and from Ullapool it is approximately a 40 minutes drive it is linked by the A832 coast road to Camusnagaul a small hamlet over looking Little Loch Broom on the eastern shore, midway up the loch, and Badcual on the southern shore further north.
The loch is an important wildlife habitat, and a population of cormorants often bask on the rocks jutting out of the water. from here you can see outstanding views of the Torridon sandstone peeks of the Teallach it lies to the south west of Dundonnell and overlooks Little Loch Broom in an area often nicknamed the "great wilderness". forming some of the strangest shaped mountains to be found in the Highlands.
