Contin The village of Contin lies on the A835 from Inverness to Ullapool at the point where the fertile farmlands of Easter Ross give way to the rugged splendor of the Highlands typified by Ben Wyvis a true giant with magnificent views and the spectacular Falls of Rogie, each within a few miles of the village, offering accommodation Bed and Breakfast.

The city of Inverness is 20 miles to the south offering accommodation Bed and Breakfast to suite all budgets, and a 40 mile drive west through magnificent scenery leads to the fishing port of Ullapool where you can find Bed and Breakfast to stay over night before catching the ferry leaving for Stornoway. Contin offers mountain biking, golf, angling, riding, walking and climbing to suit all abilities.1790s.

The bridge at Contin was built by Telford the first newly-built one was swept away by a flood in 1811, but at once replaced. There is a modern expansion of the village in the form of stone houses built by the Hydro-Electric Board for the workers on the nearby Conon, Orrin, Fannich, and Luiechart schemes. They are made of the pink stone from Tarradale on the Black Isle.

The horse fair at Contin once attracted buyers from the North of England, who found this fair a useful source for collecting sturdy ponies for work underground in the pits.

The Falls of Rogie, on the Blackwater is two miles north west of Contin, they are easily reached by a path from Contin on the garve road.
