Papa Stour an island oft the westernmost tip of the Mainland it has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest mainly for geological and ornithological reasons.
The most important feature is the series of sea caves, said to be the finest in Britain, these may only be seen properly by boat, and calm conditions are essential.
The island is reached by the infrequent mail-boat from Melby on Sandness.
