It is situated on the west of Sutherland and l4 miles south east of Lochinver rising to a height of 2,399 ft, and stamps itself on the eye the Sugar Loaf, the Matterhorn of Scotland, the Pillar Hill. The name Suilven is a Norse Gaelic hybrid, meaning pillar fell.
