Visiting Kincardine Castle
Kincardine Castle Castle Estate, Royal Deeside, Kincardine Castle Castle Estate, a 3,000 acre estate on a hillside overlooking Royal Deeside and the hills of the Cairngorms National Park. Magnificent gardens, super views and hospitality from the Laird, his wife and their team.
The castle was built in 1894-6, the entrance tower dates back to a 14th century keep with its plain rendered walls, battlement and cap house, to day it is a late-Victorian architecture based on a Arts-and-Crafts fantasy of a Scottish Tower-house, it is set in a beautiful part of Royal Deeside and the building itself is equally impressive.
There are extensive gardens including a Walled Garden, Planetary Garden and Wilderness which are open for one day in June dating from the 18th century.
The Castle and Gardens form the centrepiece of Kincardine Castle Estate, normally closed to the public apart from private events, they have a pop up restaurant on the first Friday of the month offering lunches and afternoon teas, after lunch there is the chance to wander round the formal gardens, what a fantastic and different way to spend a Friday lunchtime
Worth looking out to see if the castle has any other events, access is via a private road with ample parking.

Kincardine Castle: An Unforgettable Experience for Every Visitor
For centuries, Scotland has been known as a land of tradition and romance. One of the most remarkable sights in this romantic country is Kincardine Castle, located near Kinross-shire in Perthshire. This beautifully historic castle dates back to the 12th century and still stands today with its majestic spires rising above lush gardens and scenic landscapes. Built by King William I (the Lion), it was initially used as a royal residence before becoming an important strategic stronghold during later conflicts such as The War Of Scottish Independence. Today, Kincardine Castle draws visitors from around the globe who want to experience its unique history up close while exploring all that modern Scotland has to offer.
Visitors can take guided tours or simply set out on their own exploration at Kincardine; whatever path they choose will lead them past iconic landmarks like St John’s Gatehouse – built some 800 years ago – along cobblestone pathways lined with beautiful blooming flowers. It's truly one of those places where time seems frozen; you'll instantly be transported into another era when windy staircases led knights through secret passages down gloomy dungeons towards sparkling banquet halls atop grand turrets decorated in blue tartan banners once belonging to royalty . What better way could there be than admiring panoramic views over vast rolling hills surrounded by vibrant wildlife?
