This excellent and totally free museum is large enough that you could easily kill a number of hours there. There is a diverse range of topics covered, from the history of the local area to the plight of extinct species. It is highly recommended that you pay a visit to the Norman Cross chamber in order to see the models of war prisoners. There was a helpful staff member nearby who could answer questions about the displays, and there was a pleasant cafe. It's a bit of a hike to get to the men's restroom because it's on the first floor and you have to go through the room with the marine fossils.
