The terminal consists of a gas oil separator plant with five crude oil storage tanks and all the appurtenances to handle up to 250,000 barrels per day to reach the terminal by pipeline. Much of the gas produced will be used to generate power on site, and the rest, liquefied, will be loaded to tankers, as will the oil. The group involved went to some trouble to ensure that the construction and operation of the terminal had minimal effect on the environment and sponsored a detailed study of aspects ofthe project affecting wildlife, vegetation, marine life and site landscaping, with particular protection of the pipelines to ensure against leakage butcertainly brought new life to Flotta.
