Visiting Glenturret Distillery

The Glenturret, Scotland’s oldest working distillery. Since its origins among the smugglers and illicit stills of the 18th Century, it has had some fascinating stories to tell.

Whisky booms and prohibition might have ruffled its feathers, but The Glenturret Scotch malt whisky, still made by hand in the traditional way, weathered all these challenges and has matured into an enduring brand that remains as the only traditionally hand-mashed whisky in Scotland.

Distillery Tour and Whiskey Tasting

Your review
My recent visit to the Glenturret Distillery was an unforgettable experience that left me with a newfound appreciation for Scotch whiskey and the history behind it. As a whiskey enthusiast, this distillery has been on my must-visit list for a while, and it did not disappoint.
The highlight of the visit was the distillery tour, which provided a fascinating insight into the whiskey-making process. Our guide was both knowledgeable and passionate, explaining each step in detail. From milling and mashing to fermentation and distillation, I gained a deep understanding of the craftsmanship involved. What truly set this tour apart was the authentic atmosphere of a working distillery. The opportunity to witness traditional methods in action, including the stirring of the mash and the copper pot stills in operation, was a unique experience.

The whiskey tasting that followed was a true delight. I had the chance to sample a variety of Glenturret's single malt Scotch whiskies, including their renowned "Famous Grouse" brand. The tasting room offered a cozy setting with knowledgeable staff who shared insights into the distinct flavors and characteristics of each whiskey. It was a true treat for the palate.
