Eriboll is derived from the Norse meaning home on a gravely beach it is around a mile wide for much of its length, widening considerably as it reaches the sea.

The seafood and Shellfish are considered to be some of the best in Scotland, the Lobsters, Langoustine, crab and Scallops are gathered either by hand picking or in creels.

With a vast expanse of sand backed by massive sand dunes and marram grass, with breakers from the thundering seas crashing on shore, one of the walk's take you to Feraid head, where a small puffin colony can be spotted. Handa Island is a short distance away with a regular ferry crossings to the uninhabited bird reserve.

Eriboll has its own varieties of birds including the great eagle, This is a bird watchers delight, Many varieties of rare wild flowers can be found on the cliffs on the headland here. Inverness Airport about 110 Miles approx 2 1/2 hours drive, and Wick Airport 2 hours. Nearest trains 50 miles south at Lairg or 60 miles at Thurso.

Spend your vacation in a holiday cottage or pod that is within a short driving distance to Melvich and features both a beach and a convenience shop.

There is a general store in the village of Bettyhill, as well as a hotel, a nice swimming pool for families, and views that stretch for what seems like miles out to sea.

The ruins of Castle of Old Wick, also known as the Old Man of Wick, are located on the edge of the cliffs approximately half a mile south of Wick Bay and overlook the water. The name "Old Man of Wick" comes from its location atop the cliffs.

It is a well-known location for mountain climbers and hill walkers, with Ben Hope being the Munro that is located the farthest to the north.
