Carrbridge Golf Course Accommodation Guide

Carrbridge Golf Course Accommodation Guide this is a 9-hole course, remote, quaint, beautifully and well maintained, a challenging course where the 5th tee plays over another green, through a gap and over a gully to a green some 50-100 yards down the hill, best to take an iron shot to the landing area on top of the ridge and a 7-9 iron shot from there onto the green.

There are wonderful views across Strath Spey to mountains of the Cairngorms from the 7th Tee and birds, bunnies and the occasional ambling sheep, with burns and ditches providing a natural hazard on all holes, a relatively short course but a good test of golf, surrounded by stunning scenery especially late in the afternoon when the sun is a bit lower in the sky.

Your review
Location: Carrbridge, Scottish Highlands
Par: 9-hole course
Rating: 4.5/5

Located in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, Carrbridge Golf Club offers a scenic and peaceful setting for golf enthusiasts. As one of the oldest courses in the Highlands, the course combines traditional design with stunning natural surroundings, making it a hidden gem for both seasoned golfers and beginners alike. Here's a detailed review based on a recent visit to this charming course.

1. Course Overview
The 9-hole course may be compact, but it packs plenty of challenges due to its undulating terrain and natural hazards. The holes vary in difficulty, with a mixture of par 3s and par 4s that make for an engaging and enjoyable game. Each hole is thoughtfully laid out to take advantage of the natural landscape, with a combination of tight fairways and more open spaces. The condition of the greens and fairways is well-maintained, despite the sometimes unpredictable Highland weather.

2. Setting & Scenery
One of the standout features of Carrbridge Golf Club is the breathtaking scenery. Surrounded by rolling hills and pine forests, the course offers a relaxing atmosphere that allows players to immerse themselves in the beauty of the Highlands. The panoramic views, particularly on a sunny day, make the round even more enjoyable, with occasional sightings of local wildlife adding to the experience.

3. Facilities
While the club is small compared to larger resorts, it has all the necessary amenities to ensure a comfortable visit. The clubhouse is simple but welcoming, offering drinks and light snacks for those looking to relax after their game. The staff is friendly and accommodating, adding to the overall pleasant experience.

4. Playability
Though the course is open to all skill levels, beginners may find some of the narrower fairways and natural obstacles challenging. However, these challenges are what make the course interesting and rewarding to play. It’s a perfect spot for those looking for a casual game or to work on their short game. Equipment rental is available, and visitors are welcome to join without a membership, making it accessible for tourists.

5. Value for Money
With its modest green fees, Carrbridge Golf Club offers great value for money. It’s an affordable option compared to some of the more commercialized courses in the Highlands, yet it doesn't compromise on the quality of the experience. Whether you’re staying in Carrbridge or just passing through, it's well worth a visit if you’re a golf enthusiast.

Conclusion
Carrbridge Golf Club is a true Highland treasure. While it may not have the prestige of some of Scotland’s famous courses, it offers a unique golfing experience in one of the most scenic parts of the country. For anyone staying in the area, or even visiting nearby Aviemore, it’s the perfect spot for a relaxing round of golf in a serene setting. A variety of holiday accommodation in Carrbridge is available for those looking to stay nearby, from traditional B&Bs to self-catering cottages.
