This station is on the London, Tilbury and Southend line, and it provides service to the towns of South Benfleet, Southend, Basildon, Laindon, and West Horndon, which are located along the train route. Canvey Island, in the year 1953, was the location where an unexplained sea monster was found washed up on the coast. It has been given the moniker "The Canvey Island Monster," but experts now believe it to be an anglerfish of some kind.
Canvey Island beach is a beach that is located off the south east coast and is separated from the mainland by the Thames Estuary. With a view of the Kent coastline, flowing along to Tilbury docks, you can watch the ships come and go up the Thames from the beach, watching the brake water as they pass. The location offers convenient access to a number of parks and leisure grounds, the greatest of which being Epping Forest, a wooded area that spans around 5,900 acres and extends from the outskirts of Greater London into Essex. In addition, there are a variety of excellent restaurants and bars located in the surrounding area. The A12 bypasses the village of Boreham, offering access to Colchester and the coast to the north, as well as the M25 (junction 28) to the south. The Rayleigh train station provides access to Southend and London Liverpool Street, and the Rayleigh High Street commercial district has everything a shopper might want or need.
