Uig, located on the Isle of Lewis, provides visitors with a number of trails and paths that may be utilised for traversing the breathtaking scenery and participating in a variety of outdoor activities. The following are some of the most travelled paths and trails in and around Uig.

Uig Bay Walk: Amble along the sands of Uig Bay Beach in a relaxed fashion. It is a wonderful opportunity to take in the picturesque vistas of the coastline and investigate the sandy shoreline.

Fairy Glen Trails: The Fairy Glen is a special place that features a network of natural paths that can be followed for strolls of varying lengths or for longer excursions. Be sure to pay the recognisable rock formation known as "Castle Ewan" a visit.

Trail from Ardroil Beach to Mangersta: This coastal trail will take you from Ardroil Beach to Mangersta while bringing you through some spectacular coastal cliffs and providing you with some breathtaking ocean vistas.

Hike the Dun Aonghasa Trail to reach an ancient stone fort called Dun Aonghasa, which not only has a significant historical significance but also provides breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area.

Uig Sands Walk: Take a stroll along the breathtaking Uig Sands Beach and the areas that surround it. The walk affords participants the chance to look for seashells and observe local wildlife.

Walk from Uig to Mangersta: This coastal walk will take you from Uig to the settlement of Mangersta on the Isle of Lewis, and it will take you through some of the most picturesque regions on the island.

Enjoy this coastal walk along the rugged coastline from Timsgarry to Mealista, with opportunities to see wildlife and explore rocky terrain. The trek extends from Timsgarry to Mealista and spans around 10 kilometres.

A longer and more difficult coastal walk that takes you from Lemreway to Mangersta and offers remote and wild landscapes along the way is called the Lemreway to Mangersta Walk.

Hike up Beinn Mhor: If you're looking for a hike with a bit more of a challenge, you can consider ascending Beinn Mhor, which is the tallest hill on the Uig Peninsula. From the top, you'll have breathtaking panoramic views.

Although it is not a track, the Golden Road (A858) is a beautiful road that runs down the eastern coast of Lewis and provides stunning views of the shoreline. Driving along this road is an excellent opportunity to get to know the surrounding area.

Please be aware that the weather in the Outer Hebrides, notably on Uig, may be extremely erratic, therefore it is important to always come prepared with clothing and equipment that is suited to the occasion. In addition, some of the trails might not be clearly marked, which is another reason why it's important to chart out your routes ahead of time, bring a map or a GPS device with you, and let someone know what you have planned for longer excursions.
