Garve is a village on the Black water river, in Rosshire It is situated 5 miles north west of Contin on the A835 the main road to Ullapool on the west coast, The village is named after the nearby Loch Garve and is in a quiet and peaceful area of great natural beauty, especially when the bright yellow gorse is in bloom. Surrounded by bleak moorland and impressive peaks, Garve is known as the Gateway to Ross-shire.

The village is served by the Garve railway station on the Kyle of Lochalsh line which crosses the A835 road on a level crossing. The scenery here is dramatic as you travel by train from Dingwall and the Kyle of Lochalsh.

Visitors can experience the spectacular views from the famous West Highland Railway. If you prefer to experience the elements on foot then Garve and the surrounding area is known for some of the finest summits in the North Western Highlands. As well as being an excellent base for exploring the Highlands, the surrounding area boasts many more attractions which are appealing to many visitors with different interests.
