Kinloss on the east side of the estuary of the river Findhorn, is best known for the former Royal Air Force base with the nearby museum Morayvia.

There are ruins of an abbey that was founded in 1150 by David I for Cistercian monks, which became rich and prosperous on the very good land in this district.

The most famous abbot was Robert Reid. 1526-40, later Bishop of Orkney He ran a school at which many of the Highland chiefs of the time were educated, and he also introduced to Moray from France the art of grafting fruit trees.

After 1643, the lands came into the hands of Brodie of Lethen, and the abbey was used as a quarry for stones. Now only the foundations and the Cloister wall, the prior's chambers, and part of the abbot‘s house.

About 2 miles north east is Milton Brodie, with an old abbey garden. which has a well and a hexagonal tower.

Findhorn Beach is only a few minutes away by car, while the neighbouring town of Forres, which is most famous for its RAF base, is only four miles away. Kinloss is found in the county of Moray, close to the water's edge of Findhorn Bay. This is an ideal base for exploring the gorgeous Morayshire region, as it is situated in a prime position just one mile from the ancient pine forest and inviting coastline.

Cairngorms National Park is home to a number of different endangered species and provides tourists with a selection of scenic treks suitable for all ages and levels of ability. This park is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts who want to experience the beautiful natural landscapes of the area.
