The area around Kingussie, which includes the town itself, is home to a number of different hiking paths that provide access to some of the most breathtaking scenery in all of the Scottish Highlands. While you are staying in Kingussie, you may want to consider going on one of these well-known hikes.

Visitor Information

The Creag Bheag walk is a short and very easy walk that gives stunning vistas of the Spey Valley. The track begins close to Ruthven Barracks and travels in a clockwise direction. If you are seeking for a short walk that offers stunning vistas, this is an excellent option to consider.

This long-distance trail links Kingussie and Aviemore, and it provides hikers with the opportunity to experience the Cairngorms National Park on foot. It is known as the Badenoch Way. If you would like only walk shorter stretches of the path, that option is available to you.

Near Aviemore is where you'll find the Craigellachie National Nature Reserve. This reserve contains a range of hiking trails that wind through ancient Caledonian pine woods and gives visitors the opportunity to see wild animals.

paths on the Rothiemurchus Estate: Located just a short drive away from Kingussie, the Rothiemurchus Estate features a number of paths that wind their way through beautiful forests, along lochs, and up into the surrounding hills.

Cairngorm Mountain Trails If you are seeking for walks that are more difficult, you may consider exploring the trails that are located around CairnGorm Mountain. The paths provide beautiful vantage points from which to take in the scenery of the surrounding area.

Meall a' Bhuachaille is accessible by a walk that is moderate in difficulty and is located close to Glenmore Forest Park. The peak of Meall a' Bhuachaille offers stunning vistas of the Cairngorm Mountains.

The Glen Feshie Circuit is a lengthier walk in Glen Feshie that gives a satisfying experience via gorgeous landscapes and the possibility of seeing red deer. Although it is located a little further away, it is still accessible.

The Loch an Eilein Circular Walk is a path located close to Aviemore that circumnavigates the beautiful loch known as Loch an Eile.
