#Activities For Everyone

Even while Kennethmont may not have many major hiking routes directly within the hamlet itself, there are many excellent chances for trekking in the countryside that surrounds the village in the county of Aberdeenshire. The following is a list of some of the hiking opportunities available in and around Kennethmont:

The Tap O' Noth is an old hillfort that may be found to the southwest of Kennethmont and is accessible via the Tap O' Noth Hike. The ascent to the peak of Tap O' Noth rewards hikers with sweeping vistas of the natural environment in every direction. You'll have to work your way up a fair amount of elevation on this trail, but your efforts will be rewarded at the top, where you'll find the ruins of an old hillfort.

Bennachie Range: The Bennachie range, which can be found to the east of Kennethmont, is home to a number of hiking paths that range in terms of how challenging they can be. Each of the hills that make up the range has a personality and vantage point that are uniquely its own. Bennachie is a well-known destination for hikers due to its core pathways and trails that are kept in good condition.

Cairngorms National Park: Although it is a little bit further away, Cairngorms National Park offers a wide variety of options for hiking amongst breathtaking mountain landscapes. There are routes available that are ideal for a variety of skill levels and durations, ranging from shorter walks to more difficult excursions.

The ascent to Mither Tap, one of the peaks in the Bennachie range, is a challenging but ultimately rewarding endeavour. The hike will take you through some wooded areas before leading you to the top of the mountain, where you will be rewarded with breathtaking vistas of the surrounding area.

Around 50 kilometres to the north-northwest of Kennethmont is the Glen Tanar Nature Reserve, which features a number of hiking paths that pass through a variety of environments, such as woodlands, heathlands, and along the Tanar River. As you travel around, be on the lookout for different kinds of wildlife.

Burn O'Vat and Loch Kinord: Travelling a little further to the south will bring you to a natural pothole known as the Burn O'Vat, where you can also have a stroll around Loch Kinord. The region is blessed with a wealth of natural beauty and offers a tranquil atmosphere that is ideal for a meandering walk.

Dufftown & Whisky Walks: Situated to the southeast of Kennethmont, the historic town of Dufftown is well-known for the whisky that was produced there. You can stroll along one of the many walking routes that are located around the city, and you can even combine a walk with a tour of one of the local whisky distilleries.

Be sure to check the current state of the route, as well as the weather forecast and any applicable permits and requirements, before setting out on any walk. In addition, it is a good idea to let someone know about your hiking intentions and the approximate time that you will return, particularly if you will be hiking in more distant places.

Before embarking on any hikes in the Kennethmont area, it is important to keep in mind that the availability of hiking routes and the state of those trails may shift over time. For this reason, it is essential to conduct research on the most recent information and consult local resources.
