🌄 Location & Scenery – 5/5
Glenuig is an untouched Highland treasure. Nestled between rugged hills and the sea loch, the village offers panoramic views, tranquil beaches, and postcard-worthy sunsets. Every step along the single-track roads leads to another scenic surprise – from hidden coves to Highland cattle in open fields.

Whether you're standing on the rocky shore of Glenuig Bay or looking across to Eigg and Rùm on a clear day, the atmosphere is pure peace.

🏡 Accommodation – 4.5/5
A small number of holiday cottages and self-catering lodges are available here, most with traditional charm and wood-burning stoves. We stayed in a locally owned cottage booked directly through stay4you.com – clean, comfortable, and perfectly located for beach walks and stargazing.

Expect basic but authentic Highland living. No chain hotels here – just warm hospitality, real fires, and sea views.

🍽️ Food & Drink – 4.7/5
The Glenuig Inn is the community's heart and a pleasant surprise. Locally sourced seafood, hearty Highland meals, and a strong whisky selection make this more than a simple pub stop. There's also a small café nearby (seasonal), but it's worth bringing some essentials as shops are limited.

🚶 Things To Do – 4.9/5
Beachcombing & Wild Swimming: Glenuig Bay and Samalaman Beach are perfect for relaxed paddling or chilly but refreshing dips.

Walking Trails: From Glenuig, we took the scenic route over the hills to Smirisary – a deserted crofting village with coastal views.

Wildlife Spotting: We saw otters in the bay, red deer at dusk, and a golden eagle soaring above the hills.

Kayaking: Easily hired locally – stunning coastline and safe conditions for beginners.

🛣️ Getting There – 3.8/5
Reaching Glenuig is part of the adventure. The drive from Fort William takes around 1.5 hours through winding but beautiful roads. Public transport options are very limited, so a car is essential. That said, the journey is a highlight, not a chore – especially if you stop at Loch Moidart or Ardmolich en route.

🧭 Insider Tips:
📷 Best photo spot: The viewpoint above Samalaman Beach at golden hour

🌌 Stargazing: Glenuig has minimal light pollution – a must for night skies and northern lights in winter

🕰️ Plan around the seasons: May–September is most popular, but winter brings snow-dusted landscapes and solitude

🛶 Water activities: Book sea kayaking in advance if visiting in peak season

💬 Overall Verdict
Glenuig isn’t for those seeking nightlife or shopping – it’s a destination for reflection, nature, and resetting your pace. If you want to unwind by the sea, explore wild landscapes, and connect with authentic Highland life, Glenuig should be at the top of your list.

Would we return? Absolutely. It's the kind of place that changes your rhythm and stays with you long after you’ve left.

🟢 Recommended for: Nature lovers, couples, solo travellers, adventure seekers
🔴 Not ideal for: Those needing fast Wi-Fi, public transport access, or high-street conveniences
