The Church of St Laurence style is mainly Perpendicular and has two naves and two chancels. The old central Norman tower is still complete with arches, you will also find carvings of dragons, and an assortment of birds. Found on the north face of one pillar are three interesting
wall paintings of saints dating from the 15th century.
Other parts of the church show damage from attacks in the form of bullet marks when in 1643 Captain Boles and 80 Royalists, held out there until finally overwhelmed by Parliamentarians. There is a brass to the captain in the church and another monument to him.
