Brading Holiday Accommodation Guide

Brading Holiday Accommodation Guide affording visitors the oppourtunity to search for the most appropriate accommodation for their vacation.  Brading is an excellent base for visitors wishing to enjoy and explore The Isle of Wight and its surrounding area, which offers excellent lodgings ranging from fine hotels to basic bed and breakfast establishments, as well as some wonderful local hospitality, so whatever type of accommodation you require, you will find it in and around Brading and its surrounding area.

Exploring the area from The Isle of Wight's Brading Harbour was formerly a bustling port. Small ships sailed up the Yar during high tide as recently as the 1870s. Since 1880, a mile-long causeway has separated the town from the sea, resulting in the addition of 650 acres of fiat, marshy ground to the area, which is rich in bird life..

The oldest church on the island is St Mary's Church, which was built in Norman times. The Early English tower is fretted with arches to allow processions to remain on consecrated ground as they circled the church. The site has previously yielded 7-foot-tall prehistoric men's skeletons. The church has memorials to the Oglander family, who have been a part of the island's history for almost 800 years.
They owned Nunwell Manor throughout Henry I's reign, and it is still in family ownership. I was their visitor here, Charles.

Brading was given its definitive charter by Edward VI, and its governance is now in the hands of eight Parish Council members and a Town Trust; it is no longer a borough. The old bull ring can be seen in the town centre, and there are stocks beneath the old townhall.
Brading has another claim on the visitor's time, with the best-preserved Roman villa of the eight unearthed on the island at Morton Farm near Yarbridge. The mosaics are particularly interesting.

Participants have the option of participating in either a 100-kilometer or a 55-kilometer ride.
