Bradbury Rings located in East Dorset is an ancient Iron Age fortification, circular in shape, it has three concentric rings of massive chalk trenches and banks rising to, and tightly enclosing, a dark wood. Two important Roman roads which run from from Bath to Poous Harbour, and from
Dorchester to Old Sarum intersected at Badbury. Some say it was the site of a great battle between Britons, commanded by their legendary Arthur, and the invading Anglo Saxons.
An old legend said that King Arthur still lived in its wood, in the guise of a raven. Now the ravens have gone and the banks have become fragmented, and damaged by the foot fall of picnickers. It is approached by a magnificent beech avenue, along the B3082, which was planted in and around 1875.
About one mile south east in a beautiful park.
