Duart Castle Holiday Accommodation Guide

Duart Castle, Visit the Isle of Mull to learn about the history of the Maclean family and how they got their name.
Standing sentinel over the cliffs of the Isle of Mull, Duart Castle offers one of the most stunning and one-of-a-kind vantage points on Scotland's West Coast. The Maclean Castle is one of the few remaining privately owned Clan Castles in Scotland. It was brought back from the brink of ruin in 1911 and now serves as a repository for the eight hundred years of history that belongs to one of the oldest Clans in Scotland.

Visit us and we'll tell you all about the turbulent history of the Clan, along with tales of love and war. In the courtyard of the Castle, you will find a stone Clan Crest as well as a Rowan Tree that is in full blossom. Explore the gloomy depths of the Keep, which dates back to the 13th century, as well as the underground corridors. Explore the delightful Edwardian State Rooms and the breathtaking Banqueting Hall during your stay. Walk along the battlements and take in the breathtaking views of the Sound of Mull below you as you do so.

The Millennium Wood and Duart Point, a walking promontory, are two attractions that guests can take advantage of when they are on the grounds of the castle.

Eat at the Duart Tearoom, which serves food made from local ingredients, and then look through "Macleans of Duart" to choose a unique keepsake to take home with you.

During the course of the summer, Duart Castle plays host to a large number of weddings in addition to a variety of other activities, some of which include outdoor theatre, military reenactments, music, storytelling, as well as performances by Scottish pipers and highland dancers.

The castle of Duart has appeared in a number of Hollywood movies, such as "Entrapment" (1999), "When Eight Bells Toll" (1971), and "I Know Where I'm Going" (1945).
