Copinsay Visitor Information Guide

Copinsay with its adjacent small holms and the ‘Horse' (a low rocky stack), lies to the south east off the Mainland parish of Deerness making up one of the Orkney Islands.

Its mile long cliffs some 200 ft high, harbour large and important sea-bird colonies, mainly kittiwake and guillemot. When James Fisher, the naturalist and broadcaster, died in 1970 the many organizations  with which he had been associated combined in an appeal for funds to establish a sea-bird island Nature Reserve.
