Clava Cairns visitor information and Accommodation guide for your visit to the Inverness area. Clava is a group of three chambered tombs they lie on the south east bank of the river Nairn, 6 miles south east of Inverness and one mile from Culloden Moor.
The center of this annular cairn encloses an unroofed area, the outer cairns are corbelled passage graves in round cairns all three are set within circles of free standing stones standing at varying heights.
The cemetery was used in two periods. At around 2000 BC a row of large cairns was built, three of which can still be seen today.
