Cholsey Visitors Hospitality Guide

Due of its central location within the beautiful county of Oxfordshire, travellers visiting the hamlet of Cholsey will be in a perfect position to take advantage of and discover everything that the town and its surroundings have to offer because of its central location. Cholsey visitors are in a unique position to take advantage of and enjoy everything that the town and its surroundings have to offer for as long as they remain in the town. Additionally, in addition to giving a diverse selection of superb accommodation alternatives ranging from expensive hotels to tiny bed & breakfast facilities, this location also provides some beautiful local warmth and a tranquil ambience, among other things. Tourist and commercial hotels may be found in plenty in Cholsey and the adjacent districts, as well as in the surrounding areas and beyond.

Those that visit Cholsey Oxfordshire will discover that it is barely a mile from the River Thames, in Wallingford, and that it has a number of intriguing historical connections. In 986, Ethelred the Unready established an abbey in this location, most likely as an act of atonement for the murder of his brother Edward. When the Danes invaded the region, this abbey was destroyed, and the abbey was eventually annexed to the abbey of Reading.
Nothing remains of these structures, although it is believed that a portion of the cruciform church, specifically the central tower, may have been constructed during the Anglo-Saxon period. However, the majority of St Mary's today is Norman, despite the fact that the chancel was enlarged in the 13th century and the tower was constructed a few centuries later. Among the monuments is a brass commemorating John Mere, the vicar of the parish, which dates from 1471.

Wallingford at War event

I went to see the Wallingford at War event, which was excellently organised and quite fun. My Father was captivated by the exhibits and the sight of individuals dressed in World War II uniforms, which he found fascinating. We all had a great time riding the steam train, and the pricing was really fair as well. I would strongly encourage you to pay a visit.
