Enjoy the ferry to and from Skye, you will need to take the ferry. Skye, travel aboard the historically significant Glenelg Ferry, Glenelg Ferry, The last manually controlled turntable ferry still in operation, this vessel is a vital link for the little town in Highland that fought to keep it from being retired. This five-minute journey from Glenelg to Kylerhea village is the shortest and the oldest route to Skye. It was first serviced by a ferry in 1773.

Mallaig is the gateway to Skye from the sea.
Bring the vehicle to Mallaig and continue on to Skye via the ferry. The ferry ride from Mallaig to Skye can take up to forty-five minutes, and it docks at Armadale, which is located in the midst of a dramatic Highland scenery. Here, you can see gorgeous red deer in plenty on the edges of Loch Hourn, and you can experience a Bortle Grade two night sky: During certain times of the year, you may have the opportunity to witness the Aurora Borealis, the Milky Way, and noctilucent clouds, all of which are stunning natural occurrences.

Bring the car along and hop on the ferry that will take you from Uig on Skye to Tarbert and Lochmaddy. The trip will take about 1 hour and 40 minutes and the ferry runs seven days a week. This boat ride is the quickest way to get to the Western Islands, and it's also the only one that gives you the option of travelling to Harris and Lewis or the Uists. If you choose this trip, you'll save time and money.
