Helford River Boats Cornwall

On this lovely and captivating river, which is romantic, untouched, gorgeous, tranquil, and full of animals, you could be forgiven for assuming that you had gone back in time. The river is full with animals. There are boathouses hidden in forests that extend into the water, once-bustling quays have been transformed into grassy banks that lie serenely on the river's edge, peaceful creeks hold smugglers' secrets and tales of daring actions, and the local bird population continues much the same as it has for centuries.

Due to the fact that ferries can only travel as far inland as Helford Village, experiencing the Helford from the water is the greatest way to do it. However, if the winds coming from the east are too high, the rental companies won't let you go out on the lake.
There are several various "jumping off points" along the river that you can use to explore the area, and the one you choose to use will depend on your interests. A river cruise will take you to the greatest sites, but renting a canoe, kayak, or paddleboard will allow you to go at your own leisure and see whatever you want to see. River cruises are great for families with young children. Among the important aspects are:

Frenchman's Creek, which was made famous by Daphne du Maurier's novel of the same name, is a place that is untouched, mysterious, and rich in wildlife.

Tremayne Quay was built in 1847 by Sir Richard Vyvyan, however despite the fact that it was built, Queen Victoria never travelled to the region. It is currently owned by the National Trust, and it is a fantastic location for boat picnics, camping, and other outdoor activities. Always be careful of the tidal intervals whenever you are entering or leaving the quay.

I made a reservation for an hour on a boat that came with a driver. When we arrived 30 minutes early, there was no indication that the boat had been anchored to the pontoon, so we believed that it was still on the river from a previous reservation because there was no trace of it being anchored.
When we arrived at the office to make our reservation, they, of course, made up some ridiculous tale about how the boats had already left for the day before they would accept our reservation. More was one of my expectations. There is not the tiniest shred of evidence to suggest that the ships ever existed in the first place. Unfortunately, I had to find out the hard way that if you make a reservation of any kind, you should always be sure to receive a receipt. What a precarious line of work!
