The drive through Skye to get to the castle was simply beautiful past the Cuillin mountain range, there is good free parking on the other side of the road with its own little cafe and shop.
The gardens were beautiful, especially the water and walled gardens, the grounds are quite extensive with lots of plants having tags, this is a great place to visit, inside are a set of formal rooms and further on the North Room has Jacobite relics from Flora McDonald and the Fairy flag, be sure to visit Dunvegan Castle and read up on the beliefs and superstitions of the 'fairy flag' before you go.
