Aberdour Castle, The Scottish community of Easter Aberdour is home to the castle of the same name. Aberdour is, along with Castle Sween in Argyll, one of Scotland's oldest datable standing castles, with parts of the structure dating back to roughly 1200. The fortified residence known as Aberdour Castle was initially constructed by the Douglas family in the 13th century and underwent expansion in the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries. During the summer, you may take a guided tour of...

The area around Aberdour, including Aberdour itself, which has a number of nice places to stay. Hotels, inns, and bed-and-breakfasts can refer to a wide range of different types of lodging options.

This little seaside town has two lovely beaches, a harbour, a castle, a golf course, and a variety of old-fashioned bars and stores. One of the best beaches in Scotland, Silver Sands Beach looks out over the Firth of Forth toward Edinburgh and The Lothians. Watersports enthusiasts, walkers, and families wishing to unwind on a sunny day are among the visitors to this well-liked beach. Around the corner by the harbour is where you'll find Aberdour Black Sands, the other beach.

The castle in Aberdour is the city's top draw. The 13th century fortified mansion was built by the Douglas family and expanded in the 16th and 17th centuries. There is a gallery, a beautiful painted ceiling, a charming walled garden with a dovecote in the shape of a beehive, and St. Fillan's Church on the property, among other features.

Aberdour Golf Club, a magnificent 18-hole, par-67 parkland course with breath-taking coastal vistas, is located to the west of the town.

A slender road winds its way through the farms of Aberdeenshire until it reaches Aberdour Bay, which is located a short distance to the north of the community of New Aberdour. This is not a sandy tourist hotspot; rather, it is just a magnificent stretch of wild coastline with stunning sandstone arches and caves near the eastern end of the long shingle beach. All of this, together with the rock pools that are made accessible as the water level drops, is most enjoyable to investigate when the tide is out.

St. Andrews tour

We were travelling with another couple, and they were the ones who were in charge of organising the tour for our group. Even though we weren't planned on participating, we thought it would be a good idea to take advantage of the opportunity to go outside of Edinburgh and explore the rest of Scotland while we still could. Both St. Andrews and the golf course were places that held a special significance for our friend. Due to the fact that neither my spouse nor I are golfers, we did not find this especially interesting. Even though we didn't participate in the game, we had a great time taking in the sights and watching others play. St. Andrews was a charming city that offered a wide variety of high-quality dining and retail opportunities. We just had a few hours to explore, but everything was within walking distance from where we were staying. Regrettably, neither the cathedral nor the castle permitted us to enter and gaze around the interiors of their buildings.
